Join Rebecca for a 2-hour Sivananda Yoga Practice. Sivananda Yoga is a systematic approach to Hatha Yoga that integrates Asana (Physical Postures), Pranayama (breathing) and relaxation. This style emphasizes Yoga as a path to Spiritual growth and enhanced consciousness.
This approach to Yoga is based on the teaching of Sri Swami Sivananda. The essence of a Sivananda Practice and Yogic Lifestyle is outlined in the style’s 5 Points of Yoga:
1. Proper Exercise
2. Proper Breathing
3. Proper Relaxation
4. Proper Diet
5. Positive Thinking and Meditation
The structure of this practice includes:
10 Minutes – Welcome + Overview of Sivananda Yoga and Principles of the Practice
15 Minutes - Meditation
20 Minutes – Spiritual Study (Silent)*
60 Minutes – Classical Sivananda Pranayama + Asana Practice (12 Poses)**
15 Minute – Relaxation and Meditation
* Please bring a text to read for Spiritual Study. This will be an independent and silent study session. All spiritual texts are welcome.
**The asana practice includes several inversions and advanced poses. Variations and modifications with props will be offered.
Rebecca completed a 200-Hour Sivananda Yoga training in 2011, and it continues to influence her lifestyle and approach as a yoga instructor.
