Biofeedback + Mirror Therapy
A lot of hype happens in the pelvic floor world about the use of biofeedback.
For most people who are referred to pelvic floor therapy for use of "biofeedback" they expect to be placed on some sort of machine and have it tell them what to do.
✨
But, for me personally, I don't use biofeedback machines - here's why:
🔻Most people aren't taking the biofeedback unit home
🔻There's more functional options to teach people how to appropriately contract/relax and activate these muscles
🔻We can use machine free Biofeedback through hands on approaches, the use of a mirror and giving appropriate and detailed cuing on how/why to contract the pelvic floor.
🔻Often, the units can pick up on things outside of that person that can cause "interruption" in the signal and give bad "feedback"
✨
In this case, biofeedback means literally just that, giving feedback on the mechanics of the body and be able to give people an understanding of what their body is doing at one given point in time to better understand how to contract/relax and activate the pelvic floor.
I LOVE to use mirrors, hands on cuing and patient assisted palpation for biofeedback in my sessions.
✨
Do you love using biofeedback or do you prefer different ways of working/activating the muscles of the pelvic floor?
