Releasing the Pelvic Floor
My friends tease and inspire me by often reminding me that not only am I a physical therapist but my own brand of healing also involves magic, practice and rituals I do to keep my mind/body open to allow for intuitive abilities and senses to come through during my treatment protocols.
Through working on breaking out of my own matrix (hospital life, working on a set rhythm) and integrating in to the ebbs and flows of the energetic world around me - I am pleased to embrace the jokingly enthusiastic "witch doctor" roll.
✨
For me the title witch doctor talks about:
a healer working on facilitating mind/body and body autonomy for my patients
a "holistic" minded guide
a person who inspires others to follow their paths by leading from a place of heart
a person who integrates and embodies the energies of the world around to be able to guide others to the best versions of themselves.
✨
Witch is a word we use in this world as a slander-ism but I embrace my practices, holidays and the celebrations that are integrated in to my world to be able to bring about change, health and healing for my patients.
Do you have a practice you like to follow? Do you have questions or comments about the word "witch" and what that means for you?

So if you're someone who suffers from a "tight pelvic floor" or "hypertonic pelvic floor muscles" - you probably at some point been told to "just relax" your muscles (like during an OBGYN exam!) but, as someone who also suffers from a tight pelvic floor - I can tell you I UNDERSTAND the frustration with *trying* to relax but being unable to do so!
✨
One of my favorite practices for relaxing the pelvic floor at home is to take a deep breath in - through filling the diaphragm you can help the pelvic floor to relax.
Focusing on releasing through the tailbone, relaxing around and near the sit bones are helpful ways of "thinking about it"
Also - sitting on a birth ball or a rolled up towel pressing in to and on the pelvic floor/perineum can allow the body to get feedback on relaxing * in to * the supports beneath them.
✨
Try these out and see how they feel!
Do you think that cues like these are helpful?
Have you ever been told to "just relax"?!
