Morning Ritual: A Sun Salutations Practice
Thursdays 7am
Starts August 1, 2024 (No Class 8/22)
**** A trauma-informed practice:
Morning rituals, whether a full practice on the mat, or short amounts of time dedicated to rising and settling into ourselves so that we can approach our day from a more balanced perspective, are sacred ways to honor the new beginnings that each moment brings.
During this donation-based offering, Katie Morgan, RYT500 approaches the morning with a way to enliven, invigorate and awaken our systems; the practice, based on and around the tradition of sun salutations a & b will begin with somatics and awakening flows, followed by rounds of salutations and ending with attention to balance, twists and hip opening. This is a trauma-informed practice; this approach affirms that you alone are the expert of you, and thereby acknowledges:
(1) the instructor’s role in holding space for you to have your own experiences with the offerings that are shared, (2) the power of optionality that goes beyond “ability” and into the idea of what is right for your needs in this moment, (3) the establishment of trust, both with the instructor and community but most of all, within your ability to tune in to yourself.
In this 45-minute morning ritual, you can expect to build to a pace of (1) breath/(1) movement cued with room for variations. Props are readily available. If you have any questions about whether this kind of practice is right for you in this season, or any concerns about what to expect from the physical environment and class offerings, don’t hesitate to contact Katie at thegriefritual@gmail.com.
Venmo Katie @Katie-Morgan1 by 11:00pm Wednesday nights, to reserve your spot. Please include the date(s) that you intend to attend class.
** Trauma-sensitive practices are those that are tailored to meet the needs of those who have experienced some form of trauma, loss or grief.
****Trauma-informed practices are more traditional (western) yoga class offerings but that live in an awareness of holding space for participants to have the kind of experience that they most need.
THIS CLASS IS A $15-20 SUGGESTED DONATION
