Breastfeeding Basics for Birth Workers

with Kim Guccione

Saturday 5/30 at 10am

Kim of Keepin’ Abreast Lactation Support has designed a class to provide birth workers with increased insight into breastfeeding.

It is vital that the people who support our expectant families are knowledgeable in the mechanics of breastfeeding and the expectations of successful nursing during the first hours, days and weeks.

Participants will receive access to a Google Drive folder of resources, including guidance on what to do to protect breastfeeding if baby has not latched within the first 24 to 48 hours.

If you are interested in expanding your practice and feeling confident in helping your clients get off to a strong start in breastfeeding, this offering is for you!

We look forward to strengthening our community with you.

Meet Your Instructor:

Kim Guccione is a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), proud mother of three, and former public school educator with a passion for teaching and supporting families. After the birth of her third child, Kim felt a powerful calling to transition from the classroom to the world of maternal health — where she could directly support mothers during one of the most transformative times of their lives. With the encouragement of loved ones (including Dr. Emily), Kim began her journey in lactation by serving as a Peer Breastfeeding Counselor with WIC (Women, Infants, and Children). There, she worked closely with breastfeeding families from a wide range of backgrounds, gaining deep experience in offering empathetic, evidence-based support. While in that role, she earned her certification as a CLC and solidified her passion for walking alongside parents as they navigate feeding their babies. Today, Kim runs her own private lactation practice, where she combines her strengths as an educator, counselor, and mother to provide compassionate, personalized, and research-driven lactation support. Whether you're breastfeeding, pumping, combo-feeding, or still figuring out your plan, Kim meets you with zero judgment and full-hearted encouragement. She is honored to be part of your village — and looks forward to walking with you on your breastfeeding journey.
