Learn how to safely strengthen your body during pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. This whole-body bootcamp-style program will focus on optimizing the muscles of the inner core (diaphragm, transverse abdominals and pelvic floor) and mastering muscle activation in basic movement patterns such as squats, lunges, bending, twisting, pulling and pushing. These types of movements are executed every single day, whether picking up a child, getting out of bed, opening a car door or mopping the floor.
Understand how to optimally use your core through conscious breathing techniques that you can incorporate into your daily life. This will strengthen the foundational muscles that provide posture, stability, balance and deep holistic strength. Say goodbye to chronic conditions such as lower back pain, sacro-iliac joint dysfunction, urinary/bowel incontinence, pelvic pain, and sciatica. This is also a great class for those who would like to prevent or work to correct diastasis recti and/or stress urinary incontinence.
We will begin our class with breath and core activation. After your core is activated and engaged, we will move on to more detailed strength circuits utilizing hand weights, bands and barre balls that will target your glutes, core, shoulder girdle and chest. We will top off class with a gentle cardio circuit to build endurance and end with a restorative, grounding meditation. Be prepared to breathe, work, sweat and leave feeling energized, strong, and relaxed!
Please bring a water bottle and wear comfortable workout clothing. Grippy socks are optional as barefoot is preferred.
Meet Your Instructor:
Krista O’Dea is the founder of One Strong Mother and is a Fit for Birth Prenatal and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist, Diastasis Core Consultant and Holistic Fertility & Pregnancy Safe Coach. Additionally, she is a home-birth midwifery student, doula, paramedic, Reiki Master and an avid advocate for the health and well-being of pregnant and postpartum women and their babies!
The goal of One Strong Mother is to offer women a real solution for common, but fixable, problems experienced during pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. This includes complaints such as diastasis recti, lower back pain, urinary incontinence, neck pain, shoulder pain, pelvic/hip girdle pain and sciatic pain. Unfortunately, women tend to live in discomfort thinking it is their “new normal.” I truly enjoy assisting women in improving their daily life through thoughtful and intentional exercises with a strong focus on the inner core unit. A joyous life free of pain and discomfort is my goal for every woman! I want all women to know that it is possible to feel great in your body. It is possible to be strong and sexy during and after pregnancy. It is possible to have a fully functional body that allows you to do all the things you love!
